Insane Asylum in San Antonio Texas

I had heard of the infamous insane asylum that lurks on the South Side of San Antonio Texas by a coworker of mine. Although off limits it remains an abandoned building and owned by the city of San Antonio.

There had been rumored that this once building use to house people with mental disabilities. There is another story that claims that this once building use to house people who contracted TB. The building was used to quarantined those who had TB to get treatment.

Scary looking place from a far but not worth looking into since the site is contaminated with asbestos.

Supposedly there is a guy across from the place that will scare you off with his shot gun. I've personally never have been there but that's the story.

The abandoned building is owned by the city and is off limits. Many people have been to the location (illegally of course) have witnessed shadows, sounds of cries of those who have passed on and are in limbo.

Others have claimed to have seen documentation of what was once occupied. What strikes me is if this abandoned building was left unattended why leave documentation?

What I have read and heard from people about the Insane Asylum is that funding was limited and closing the building was the only option. How you may be asking what about the patients right? What I heard is that they were let go down town to roam around with the homeless. Just a rumor but its not for sure.

I have heard from a few people who have had ghost encounters of strange noise such as screaming or even one where they heard a whisper say help me.

I went to this place yesterday, only up to the first building. It was pretty creepy. I didn't see any signs that said no trespassing or private property. I didn't see or hear this old man with a shotgun and I didn't see the first cop. As we were leaving a city employee stopped us and asked us if the cows belonged to us. HUH??? We said no of course. I am really anxious to get back out there.....maybe I got lucky and didn't see any cops or that old man.!!!!

I drove by many years ago but I know cops drive by that area. I guess to deter people from entering. Just a word of warning its got heavy asbestos. I guess at that time they figured since asbestos kept things from burning it was safe.
Pretty strange to ask if those were your cows lol.

i was recently in texas this last weekend and my cousin took me here.we only made it to the first building where there we didnt enter because we had a bad feeling i stayed outside with another family member while one went in.we ended up seeing a figure duck by the stairs we went to check it out and nothing was there. we started walking down the path and we heard footsteps all of a sudden they stopped and we kept walking we were almost to the second building where there we saw a figure pop out in the middle of the path we took off back to the entrance and right when we were passing the first building the gun shot went off and we all started running. all these stories you hear about the asylum is true

A few years ago, I worked for a local here in town. A co-worker / friend showed me a picture he took of his buddy entering a room in one of the buildings. In the background (ceiling) you can see an image of a cloud with a demonic face peering out of it. My co-worker / friend told me he felt a presence around him and all of a sudden a cold wind blew in that particular room they pictured. He was shocked to find the image in the picture once he uploaded it on his computer. He also told me that he could not sleep that night and his friend got sick for days afterwords. The proof is in the pudding. Craziest thing I've ever seen!

Ive seen some silly comments about this sight, So I felt the need to set you straight. Stay away from this sight. I am now 44 years old and when I was 17, long before these stupid ghost shows started on T.V, went to the asylum with some friends late one night after a Marshall-Holmes football game. We spent the first 30 minutes looking for access to the main building and found a garage covered with some archaic writing and a big spider. I personally found the first floor entrance to the building and it turned out to be a room completely covered in spiders. I foolishly climbed through an open window and fell down a shaft that broke a leg. My "Friends" left me there and 2 days later a sheriff's deputy pulled me out. Going to the asylum will get you hurt. Stay Away!
